Social Emotional Learning, Taking Responsibility for Your Actions

Are you teaching a study skills, social emotional or in a class where you are working on skill and character building with your middle or high school are students? This product includes everything you need to teach students about taking responsibility for their actions. This is part of the problem solving unit.

You can teach character building skills in an explicit way and this product will help your students clearly learn this important life skill.

This will:

• teach students about the benefits of taking responsibility for their actions
• give you pre/ post assessment data (on both vocabulary & content)
• give your students the opportunity to practice text annotation
• teach / reinforce common vocabulary words
• have students explore how taking responsibility for their actions will benefit them

• 2 page article written at the 5/6th grade level
• Pre assessment (for vocabulary and article content, 11 total questions)
• Post assessment (for vocabulary and article content, 11 total questions)
• Activity 1: Vocabulary exploration work with 7 words
• Activity 2: finding specific text evidence
• Activity 3: comprehension - written answers
• Activity 4: Writing a summary & completing a graphic organizer
• Activity 5: Real life application activity
• Activity 6: Choice Board Activity (you will need students to have a computer/ tablet for this)
• Answer keys included for all

NOTE for digital learning: This is activity is available as both a PDF and a google drive compatible file. With the digital learning option, you are able to share this with students over a digital platform and the activities have text boxes for student responses.
