This is not the complete list of items needed for the demos, but the remainder are household and hardware-store purchases. To be as easy and successful as possible, these recipes often refer to materials sold in kits, which are listed below. Kesler Science does not get any benefit from the sale of these kits, and there are many ways to replace these materials on your own.
- Sound Tubes and Glow-in-the-Dark copy paper are best purchased rather than made.
- “Atomic” Materials: DIY - fluoroscein dye, or soak the core of a neon yellow highlighter in the liquid ingredients of a recipe in advance.
- Boo Bubble Generator: DIY - cut off the top of a two-liter bottle and cover it with a large funnel connected to rubber tubing.
- Cross-linking Solution: DIY - 1 cup warm water + 1 tablespoon sodium tetraborate (Borax)
- Glow Powder: DIY - zinc sulfide
- Slime Solution: DIY - 4% polyvinyl alcohol
- Worm Activator: DIY - 5g calcium chloride + 100 mL distilled water
- Worm Solution: DIY - 2g sodium alginate + 100 mL distilled water
