✮ Syllable Types & Patterns the Orton Gillingham way : Notes for Teachers ✮
This set of notes would be useful for teachers who are new to the Orton-Gillingham way of teaching syllables or simply need a quick revision of the types and patterns before teaching it.
It is broken down into 14 lessons, with each focusing on a syllable pattern. There are also real and ‘nonsense’ word examples for each syllable pattern.
✮ Steps for Syllabication PowerPoint : Teaching Slides ✮
This PowerPoint Presentation teaches the Orton-Gillingham approach in the teaching of steps for syllabication. There are a total of 18 word examples, with step by step syllabication procedure shown clearly for each word.
It explains what is an open syllable and a closed syllable. It also clearly delineates the steps for syllabication, by using words to illustrate the 9 syllable patterns - VC/CV, VCC/CV, VC/CCV, VCC/CCV, VC/C-le, V/C-le, V/CV, VC/V and V/V . There are at least 2 word examples for each syllable pattern.

If you teach syllables the Orton-Gillingham way, practice syllable division of words with the various syllable patterns with this hands-on activity! This activity involves students using scissors to cut word strips into syllables.
Includes both real and nonsense words.
