What educators are saying

Jennifer you did it again! I am so appreciative for sharing your talents with the world!! My students love these activities. It is relevant, engaging, and rigorous!!
I love the variety of activities this resource offers. Not only does it vary in ways to show text evidence but also in complexity. Some of my students' favorites are the Who is the speaker resource, and The What is the Evidence Resource.

    Description

Finding text evidence and citing text evidence are two reading skills that need to be modeled, practiced, and spiraled all year for our students to truly be successful.

NOTE: All of resources in this text evidence bundle now include BOTH printable and digital versions. The digital versions are created with Google Slides and and the links to access can be found on page 3 of each PDF.

About this Text Evidence Activities | Citing Text Evidence Resource

This huge resource is a bundle of SEVEN text evidence resources. Each resource provides rigorous practice with inferring, finding text evidence, and summarizing that text evidence.

Here are the text evidence activities included and a brief description (Click on each one or see the detailed previews above to learn more):

*What's The Evidence? Activities - Use these low-prep text evidence activities to introduce the skill of inferring and finding relevant text evidence. This resource includes three sets of 8 short texts with a specific overarching topic (Animals, Locations, and Careers). *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*Text Evidence Color Coding Printables - Use these engaging fiction and nonfiction texts to have your students answer questions (that require inferring) and color code the matching text evidence. There is also an option to not use color coding. There are 16 no-prep printables in all. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*Find the Evidence Printables - Use these no-prep printables to have your students practice the skill of finding evidence to support a specific main idea or claim. There are 14 printables in all and a mix of fiction and nonfiction texts. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*Find the Evidence Task Cards - These easy-to-use task cards require the students to find specific text evidence and then summarize that evidence. There are 36 task cards in all (fiction and nonfiction texts). These are rigorous and perfect for small group reading instruction and reading centers. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*What Does the Text Evidence Reveal? - Finding text evidence is only one part of the skill that our students need. They also need to be able to explain what the evidence reveals or shows them. These 32 "What Does the Evidence Reveal?" task cards provide practice with this skill. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*Which Evidence Best Supports Your Answer? Task Cards - Multi-part reading questions are showing up more and more on state assessments. These 28 text evidence multi-part task cards will help you prepare your students. Each task card has two questions. The first question requires the students to make an inference and the second question requires them to select the evidence that best supports their answer to the first question. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

*Who is the Speaker? Text Evidence Printables - Engage your students with finding text evidence with these “Who Is the Speaker?” printables. To complete the printables, the students will read a half-page text from an unknown speaker/narrator. The students will use text evidence to determine who the speaker of the text is. There are 10 printables included in this resource. *Includes Digital Versions for Google Slides.

    Important Note:

****Note: These text evidence activities and printables require inferencing and are written at a 4th and 5th grade reading level. If you teach 4th grade and have struggling readers, I don't recommend this without significant support and modeling.

About the Digital Text Evidence Activities

    • The digital text evidence activities are created for use with Google Slides™.
    • The digital versions includes semi-transparent rectangles for the students to highlight the text evidence and text boxes. Some include moveable pieces for the students to drag and drop.
    • The content for the digital text evidence activities is the SAME as the printable version.
    • Answer keys can be found in the PDF.

Check out the video previews of EACH resource to see the digital versions.
