Teaching students the types of text structure and text features can help them better comprehend informational text. Use these posters, worksheets, activities, and assessments to help you teach and assess students.

1. TEXT STRUCTURE RESOURCE:

This resource gives students multiple activities to help them master the types of text structure.

This resource can be used in a variety of ways:

• Whole group instruction
• Small group instruction
• Enrichment
• Early Finishers
• and more

This resource provides engaging ways to help students master the types of sentences:

• The posters included can be used during whole group lessons projected on the board and then hung up in the classroom for future reference.

• The easy to cut flip book can be used by students during whole group to write definitions and examples for each type of text structure.

• A cut, sort, and paste activity is included. This activity is a great option for independent work or for centers.

• The Types of Text Structure worksheets include short passages and graphic organizers for the students to fill out. They allow practice and formal assessment opportunities.

• Once students have a better understanding of the different types of text structure, 12 task cards can be used as a scoot activity in the classroom or as a second center activity to help them review. It also allows the teacher to informally assess students' understanding.

• A scavenger hunt booklet gives students the opportunity to write the text structure, its definition, clue words, and to glue an example found in a magazine.

This unit includes:

• 9 Different colored sets of posters (red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, pink, and a black & white option)

• 1 Flap page (to be cut and glued in a notebook)

• 1 Cut, sort, and paste activity & answer key (for definition, clue words, and graphic organizer)

• 1 Set of 12 identify the text structure task cards & answer keys (These may be used as a whole group activity where the cards are rotated around the room or as a center activity.)
