Bucket Lists don’t have to be morbid; they can inspire us, give us hope, and force us to change or try new things. Setting goals is a valuable skill made even more priceless when we learn HOW to achieve them!
Hook students into doing research in disguise, hiding the work within a topic that they actually care about! In this project, students first make their own bucket lists and are then instructed to go RESEARCH how to actually accomplish at least ONE of those list items in a step-by-step manner.
Next, students prepare a short slideshow presentation to share their goal and the process to the class. (Plus, presentations mean easy in-class grading for you!)
This 7-page/slide download includes:
• Teacher’s Page, including essential questions, standards covered for Grades 6-8 and 9-10, suggestions for grading W.7 and W.8, and a link to an article for background reading (optional)
• Directions Page: introduce the project and hook students with clear directions
• Rubric: Assesses CCSS writing and speaking standards, including slide design and speaking skills used during the presentation; includes spaces for teacher feedback and self-assessment.
