What educators are saying

My students were extremely engaged using these resources! It was easy to follow and just what we needed.
Used this resource with our STEM Club. They enjoyed the challenge and it was a lot of fun to see what they came up with.

Description

In this STEM and team building challenge, students will work to foster collaboration and team-work as they design and construct a structure that will protect their eggs from a 10 foot drop. Teams will be given supplies (supply lists and shopping lists included) identical supplies and amounts of time to build their designs. The twist for this challenge will be that each team MUST use all of their supplies. Even more challenging, each team CANNOT communicate verbally during the construction phase of their egg drop. Will students work together and save their eggs from doom? Only time will tell!

NGSSMS-ETS1-2
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
NGSSMS-ETS1-4
Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved.
NGSSMS-ETS1-1
Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
NGSSMS-ETS1-3
Analyze data from tests to determine similarities and differences among several design solutions to identify the best characteristics of each that can be combined into a new solution to better meet the criteria for success.
