What educators are saying

Teaching morals can be frustrating as a teacher. Reading between the lines is a higher functioning skill. Students found these lessons engaging and interesting. I have used the packet two years in a row since ordering.
This was a great resource. I set this up as a walk-the-room activity where students worked with a partner to go around to each card and answer the question.

Description

Help your students determine the moral of the story. This unit gives students practice with story structure. They review what happens in a story and how a character learns a lesson.

Included:

  • Adapted stories and fables
  • Graphic organizers, matching and question-based activities help students think about the moral of the story.
  • There is a plan and write activity that helps students write a short story with a moral.

  • There are 6 discussion cards. These can be used for practice or for small groups.

The lessons are focused on standards for 2nd grade CCSS ELAs, but could also work for 3rd grade review or intervention and for extended work for 1st graders. The unit is designed to reinforce regular classroom curriculum.

There is a PDF and a digital activity. The digital activity has interactive components.

I have included a short self-checking digital assessment.
