    Description

This Number System Bundle includes some amazing products to use with the Common Core Standards 7.NS.1 - 7.NS.3. Below, you will find a brief description of each resource. If you click the title, it will lead you to the individual resource that is also for sale.

Rational and Irrational Numbers - Define and Classify

Includes two activities: The first activity asks students to classify and place ten numbers on the real numbers graphic organizer. The second activity asks students to write a paragraph using the following nine vocabulary words.

    Rational Numbers - Station Activity

A variety of 24 task cards provide questions in which students can apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply and divide rational numbers. An answer sheet is also provided for students to record their work.

Terminating and Repeating Decimals - Worksheets and Partner Activity

This product includes two activities to be used with the Number System. The first activity addresses terminating and repeating decimals. The second activity is a "Find Someone Who" activity based on the 7th grade Number System.

Math Lab - Practice with the Number System

Six Number System mini lessons to be used as supplemental instruction. I have used them in my math lab. The sheets are cut and glued into composition books.

    Rational Number Real-World Problems Worksheet

This product involves six real-world problems involving the four operations with rational numbers. Students are asked to show their work and to provide a written explanation on how they solved the problem.

Rational Number Themed Word Problems Worksheet

This product includes four different themed pages with real-world problems using rational numbers. Each page has five questions for students to solve and an opportunity for the student to write their own problem. You can have your students choose which set of problems they would like to complete. The four themes are a.) Birthday Party celebration, b.) Halloween Festivities, c.) Reindeer Fun and d.) Basketball Madness. Each page has a variety of real-world problems involving the four operations with rational numbers.

    Rational Number Assessments

This editable product includes a twenty question pre-assessment and a 20 question post assessment on the number system for 7th grade (7.NS.1, 7.NS.2 and 7.NS.3). It also has a four question entry slip and a four question exit slip for each of the three standards. There are a variety of questions involving rational and irrational numbers. Students are asked to model addition, subtraction and multiplication of rational numbers on a number line. The assessment also includes questions on terminating and repeating decimals, division of fractions and real world problems.

    Rational Number Quiz

This product includes a quiz on the 7.NS.3 Common Core Standards. Students are asked to explain their thinking and to provide work to support their answers. The questions cover the rational number definition, placing rational and irrational numbers on a graphic organizer and three word problems. At the end of the quiz, students are asked to reflect upon their understanding of rational and irrational numbers.

Two versions of this assessment are included. One has rational numbers only and includes two questions about terminating and repeating decimals. The other asks students to place both rational and irrational numbers on the graphic organizer. Both quizzes have the same word problems on the second page.

    Changing Repeating Decimals to Fractions

This product includes a guided notes page for students to glue in their notebooks. The notes take students through a series of steps to use in order to change a repeating decimal to a fraction. Following the note page, students will work on five problems. One example is provided for the assignment. A variety of repeating decimals (one digit, two digits, etc.) is given for students to complete.

    Rational and Irrational Vocabulary Bundle

Use this vocabulary resources during your instruction on rational and irrational numbers! The product includes word wall cards, graphic organizers, a vocabulary sort activity, vocabulary task cards and two worksheets.

    Rational and Irrational Number Sort

This activity is designed to create an opportunity for students to discuss rational and irrational number vocabulary while strengthening the knowledge they learned during the unit of study. An answer key is available of possible solutions although many solutions exist.

Rational and Irrational Vocabulary Task Cards

Students will work with 24 vocabulary task cards. The main rational and irrational words include real numbers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, integers, whole numbers, counting numbers, terminating decimals, repeating decimals, square numbers and perfect square numbers. Some additional related vocabulary words are also included. Students are asked to answer six questions for each of the following categories:

    Which One Does Not Belong?

    What Is The Question?

    What Could It Be?

    What Is the Real Definition?

A brief direction page is provided for each category in addition to a recording page. The stations can be completed as a partner or small group activity. An answer document is included.

Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division and of fractions to multiply and divide rational numbers.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving the four operations with rational numbers.
Know that numbers that are not rational are called irrational. Understand informally that every number has a decimal expansion; for rational numbers show that the decimal expansion repeats eventually, and convert a decimal expansion which repeats eventually into a rational number.
