Description
The Palace of Versailles is arguably one of the most marvelous and intriguing structures to ever be constructed in Western Civilization. This activity is meant to help students to think analytically about Louis XIV and how he used the Palace of Versailles to gain control of his nobility and, ultimately, all of France.
In this immersive lesson, students will investigate both primary and secondary sources to understand the construction, details, and political use of the palace while also developing their understanding of absolutism. To do this they will complete a series of activities which include, videos, readings, and a virtual 'field trip' through and around the palace.
