The Science of Glow Sticks

This activity is a great way to add a science lesson to a NEON or GLOW day with your students! 

The only materials you will need are glow sticks (I used three per table group), three clear cups, and cold/warm/hot water. Have the students work through the steps in the scientific method by predicting what they think will happen when they place one glow stick in each cup. 

For fun, I recommend doing this with the lights off and windows partially blacked out so it’s really fun for the students to watch the glow sticks light up!! You can even give them highlighters to draw what the glow sticks look like, they will LOVE seeing their drawn observations GLOW!
