Description

This hands-on outdoor learning lab allows students to measure the distance of the Wright Brothers' first flight as a way to bring concrete meaning to an abstract idea (what does 120 feet really look like?).

This product includes:

-welcome letter

-teacher instructions

-necessary materials list (all easy to find and in most classrooms already - things like sidewalk chalk, yard sticks, and a timer of some sort)

-student procedures and expectations

-measurement handout

-suggested resources to support your instruction of the Wright Brothers and their achievements in transportation

I've even included a fun competition component at the end of the lab.. do you think your students can run faster than the Wright Brothers flew their plane? You might be surprised..

My students love this activity each year; I'm sure yours will too!
