What educators are saying

Thanks for the help. After teaching Biology 12 years, the principal informed a week and a half before school started this year that I would be teaching Integrated Physics and Chemistry, so I needed a lot of help with material. Great source.
Very through PPT, lesson, notes and assessment. This resource was great to leave as an assignment for the substitute. Students can review information and check their learning by completing the notes and using them to study for the assessment. Very satisfied!

GOOGLE DRIVE – GOOGLE CLASSROOM FILES

This resource includes Google App compatible files:

• Presentations saved as Google Slides

• Scaffolded and Modified Notes saved as Google Docs

• One Summative Exam saved as a Self-Grading Google Form

Important Notes about Google App Files

• The Google App files are 100% editable

• The download includes directions to access and make copies of the Google App files

• Due to file size limits, the presentations and notes are separated into multiple files

• Slides and notes are organized into lessons according to the planning and pacing

• The Self-Grading Google Form exam is undifferentiated. Edit questions at your discretion

• Diagrams in the notes are saved as drawings in the docs so to be manipulated by students

Why is it necessary to have these files available if Google Apps open Microsoft Office files?

The Microsoft Office files in this download have been converted so to preserve the aesthetics, images and videos (when applicable). When uploading to Google Drive, text boxes may be resized or shifted, images may be deleted or corrupted and embedded videos do not play. I have corrected these errors so the quality of the presentation and notes are preserved. Also, file size limits may prevent you from uploading an entire presentation to your Google Drive. I broke apart the presentation and notes into manageable “chunks” that can be used for individual lessons.

To upload the files from this download to your Google Drive, you should use the Google Drive for Desktop App. You CANNOT directly upload the folders of lessons to your Google Drive within a web browser. You can manually copy and sync the files but this requires more user effort. Video directions are included and can be viewed in a web browser: https://bit.ly/3SK6RNm

NGSSMS-PS3-4
Plan an investigation to determine the relationships among the energy transferred, the type of matter, the mass, and the change in the average kinetic energy of the particles as measured by the temperature of the sample. Examples of experiments could include comparing final water temperatures after different masses of ice melted in the same volume of water with the same initial temperature, the temperature change of samples of different materials with the same mass as they cool or heat in the environment, or the same material with different masses when a specific amount of energy is added. Assessment does not include calculating the total amount of thermal energy transferred.
NGSS4-PS3-4
Apply scientific ideas to design, test, and refine a device that converts energy from one form to another. Examples of devices could include electric circuits that convert electrical energy into motion energy of a vehicle, light, or sound; and, a passive solar heater that converts light into heat. Examples of constraints could include the materials, cost, or time to design the device. Devices should be limited to those that convert motion energy to electric energy or use stored energy to cause motion or produce light or sound.
NGSSMS-PS1-4
Develop a model that predicts and describes changes in particle motion, temperature, and state of a pure substance when thermal energy is added or removed. Emphasis is on qualitative molecular-level models of solids, liquids, and gases to show that adding or removing thermal energy increases or decreases kinetic energy of the particles until a change of state occurs. Examples of models could include drawings and diagrams. Examples of particles could include molecules or inert atoms. Examples of pure substances could include water, carbon dioxide, and helium.
NGSS5-PS1-2
Measure and graph quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that occurs when heating, cooling, or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved. Examples of reactions or changes could include phase changes, dissolving, and mixing that forms new substances. Assessment does not include distinguishing mass and weight.
NGSSMS-PS3-3
Apply scientific principles to design, construct, and test a device that either minimizes or maximizes thermal energy transfer. Examples of devices could include an insulated box, a solar cooker, and a Styrofoam cup. Assessment does not include calculating the total amount of thermal energy transferred.
