    Description

This bundle is a discounted rate for the following resources:

    Introduction Prezi / PowerPoint:

It begins by noting some of the autobiographical elements in the story and then gives students all of the historical context they need to understand allusions to The Great Depression, segregation, gender roles, and Europe in the novel. It also includes a section to preview and introduce the main characters in the novel as well as its major themes. The Prezi integrates many photos and primary sources as well as three embedded videos. (Link to web-based Prezi provided. There is also a PowerPoint version of the lesson in the download).

    Close Reading PowerPoint:

This 140-slide PowerPoint is a great tool for guiding students through a more in-depth textual analysis of To Kill a Mockingbird. There is a word cloud for each chapter with a guiding question to help students review the chapter. Additional slides review key passages and push students to deeper analysis, with a strong emphasis on making inferences, understanding the major themes and symbolism in the novel, and identifying figurative language. Each slide also features teacher notes with the answers to all questions that are posed on the slides and additional background information to help with student comprehension. The PowerPoint is organized by chapter to make it easy and quick to use. Slides can be used for bellringers, discussion starters, timed writing prompts, and review.

    Reading Comprehension Questions:

This document contains 175 questions for the novel organized by chapter. An answer key is included. Questions are multiple-choice, multiple correct, matching, short answer, and short essay. They include simple reading comprehension questions and more complex questions that require students to make inferences, explain irony, identify figurative language, and express their opinions using support from the text. These questions can be used for study guides, quizzes, and tests. Since they are organized by each chapter on an easily edited Word document, it will be easy for you to pull what you need for any assessment.

Word Clouds for every chapter. (These are pulled from the Close Reading PowerPoint)

    BONUS FILE:

    Visual Thinking Routine: 3-2-1 Bridge

The purpose of this assignment is to gauge prior student knowledge and to assess student learning. Students complete the 3-2-1 Bridge worksheet on any topic. Then they have a learning experience (lecture, reading, film, etc). Next, students complete a new 3-2-1 Bridge worksheet, reflecting on how their new responses connected to or shifted from their initial responses. This worksheet is based on Harvard's Project Zero Visual Thinking Routines.
