Description
Are you looking for an easy way to save time and build rich discussions? As history teachers, we don’t have a lot of extra time. These amazing bell ringers have been designed to help you start class with success. They are easy to use and easy to grade!
These warm ups align with your U.S. History Curriculum. The benefits of organizing by content unit are that it leads to rich discussions about topics you have taught, or will teach in your unit.
Give your students an opportunity to improve their vocabulary and become better readers. By using each content-based bellringer, you expand your student’s vocabulary and usage of important terms for your unit. Your students will experience more success in writing and believe in their ability to use historical thinking skills.
These bellringers are organized into 3 weeks per unit. You may choose which weeks that align best with your curriculum and would like to help your students make connections with.
The themes for each day of the week are...
Monday: Analyze an Image or Map. Help your students visualize the content and practice analysis and make connections with the content.
Tuesday: Investigate a Historical Event. Help your students to understand important historical events and how they are relevant in your unit of study.
Wednesday: Examine a Historical Figure. Give your students an opportunity to learn about important historical figures from various units in U.S. History.
Thursday: Build Vocabulary. There are many research studies showing that increased vocabulary allows students to better comprehend reading and improve the quality of their writing.
Friday: Apply Historical Thinking Skills with Primary Sources. Give your students an opportunity to practice historical thinking skills such as sourcing, corroboration, contextualization, and close reading with primary sources!
