Description
These engaging volume labs allow students to experiment and discover volume formulas of 3D solids. Help your students understand and remember where the formulas come from (and have fun while doing so)!
The labs let students discover and make sense of formulas for the following 3D solids:
- Lab 1: Prisms
- Lab 2: Cylinders
- Lab 3: Pyramids
- Lab 4: Cones
- Lab 5: Spheres
In each lab, students create 3D figures, hypothesize, and experiment. They see how the 3D solids relate to each other as they figure out their volume formulas. They test their hypothesis by pouring (or watching the teacher pour) filler materials from one container to another.
