THIS LAPBOOK INCLUDES

Lapbook Cover

Have your learners color and cut the cover page. Fold a large piece of construction paper or file folder where the ends go to the center. Glue the cover page on the top and cut down the middle after the glue dries.

Weather Title

Have your learners color and cut the weather title. Glue the title on the top of the inside of the lapbook (matching the hands on the cover before gluing).

Weather Chart

Have your learners the Weather Chart to the center of the lapbook. Fold and glue the wind gauge and attach a small paperclip, cut a slit and insert the thermometer and add brads to connect the arrows to the chart. (print on cardstock and in color if possible)

Types of Weather

Have your learners color, trace each type of weather color in hot and cold on the thermometer and glue the pages to create a book on the left wing of the lapbook.

Severe Weather

Have your learners color, trace each type of weather and glue the pages to create a book on the left wing of the lapbook.

Weather Words

Have your learners trace the weather vocabulary and glue the Weather Words pocket on the left wing of the lapbook. Insert the weather cards when it is dry.

Types of Clouds

Have your learners glue the title and Types of Clouds flip charts on the right wing of the lapbook. Match the correct cloud description or write your own under the flaps.

Meteorologist Writing

Have your learners draw and write what they would do if they were a meteorologist for a day.

Examples of qualitative observations could include descriptions of the weather (such as sunny, cloudy, rainy, and warm); examples of quantitative observations could include numbers of sunny, windy, and rainy days in a month. Examples of patterns could include that it is usually cooler in the morning than in the afternoon and the number of sunny days versus cloudy days in different months. Assessment of quantitative observations limited to whole numbers and relative measures such as warmer/cooler.
