    Description

    Are you looking for an all inclusive WHOLE NUMBERS BUNDLE? This is a great way to introduce whole numbers and number sense to your grade 2 class or special education kiddos :) This bundle is based off of The Ontario Curriculum: Mathematics curriculum expectations for B.1 Number Sense Unit: Whole Numbers for second grade math. Each activity is hands-on which keeps our students engaged and it includes visuals to help them comprehend the concept easier!

    Students will learn about...

    Whole numbers

    • Ordering numbers from 1-200
    • Representing numbers in different ways (Numbers from 1-200)
    • Composing numbers (1-200)
    • Decomposing numbers (1-200)
    • Comparing numbers using greater than or less than (1-200)
    • Skip counting by 20s, 25s, 50s
    • Estimating objects (1-200)
    • Even and odd numbers (1-200)

    What's included in this special education math activity?

    REPRESENTING WHOLE NUMBERS

    • 24 different puzzles that focus on representing numbers from 1-200 using standard notation, expanded form, base ten blocks and word form
    • Students look at the number represented in the pictures or equations, then puts it together with the correct number to complete the puzzle

    COMPOSING NUMBERS

    • 24 different task cards that focus on composing numbers from 1-200 using standard notation, expanded form, base ten blocks, word form and with Canadian coins
    • Students will look at the pictures or equations and put a clothes peg on the number that is represented

    DECOMPOSING NUMBERS

    • 84 different task cards that focus on decomposing numbers from 1-200
    • Students will sort through the grids and count the squares to see the number that it represents. Then they will put the correct grid on the velcro area. Then they will write the equation.
    • Students use a dry erase marker to colour the number of squares needed for the number on top. They can use 2 different colours to divide it into 2 parts. Then they will fill in the equation.
    • The task cards also come with numbers that are rounded to the nearest 0 which is easier, and also numbers that end from 1-9 which will be slightly more challenging.

    ORDERING NUMBERS

    • 128 different task cards that focus on ordering numbers from 1 to 200.
    • There are 4 different sets so you can switch up the task to keep challenging your students! (Ordering numbers by multiples of 10s, Ordering numbers by multiples of 5s, 2 Sets of Ordering random numbers)

    ESTIMATING WORKSHEETS

    • 10 estimation worksheets that challenge students to estimate how many pom pom balls could fit in each object on their page!
    • Then they can place pom poms close together on the object to see how close their guess was!

    ESTIMATING TASK CARDS

    • 20 estimation task cards include visuals in groups of 3-6, which make estimating much easier for our students!
    • Each task card also includes 3 options (ex. about 10, about 20 or about 35) that the student can choose from by putting a clothes peg on their answer.
    • These task cards are super engaging because they include visuals of common preferred items such as video game controllers, unicorns, pizza & more!

    SKIP COUNTING

    • 29 different task cards based on skip counting by 20s, skip counting by 25s and skip counting by 50s.
    • Student looks at the number pattern and puts a clothes peg on the next number in the sequence

    EVEN OR ODD NUMBERS

    • 106 task cards that focus on even and odd numbers from 1-200.
    • Student looks at the number and puts a clothes peg on whether the number is even or odd.
    • This activity also comes with a key concepts task card that serves as a visual reminder of the rules to know how to identify if a number is even or odd.
    • I also included task cards with visual prompts (a circle on the ones digit) and task cards without a visual prompt.

    GREATER THAN OR LESS THAN - COMPARING NUMBERS

    • 8 sorting mats where students look at the cookie numbers and sorts it under greater than ___ or less than ___
    • Greater than 50 and less than 50 sorting mats and numbers
    • Greater than 100 and less than 100 sorting mats and numbers
    • Greater than 150 and less than 150 sorting mats and numbers
    • Greater than 200 and less than 200 sorting mats and numbers

    • B1.1 read, represent, compose and decompose whole numbers up to and including 200, using a variety of tools and strategies, and describe various ways they are used in everyday life

    • B1.3 estimate the number of objects in collections of up to 200 and verify their estimates by counting
    • B1.4 count to 200, including by 20s, 25s, and 50s, using a variety of tools and strategies
    • B1.5 describe what makes a number even or odd
