Why Study Latin?

Why Study Latin? is a colorful PowerPoint slideshow that shows students how Latin has influenced western civilization and is still an important subject to study today. It gives an overview of Latin from Roman times to today: how it evolved into the Romance languages, is found in binomial nomenclature, periodic table, zodiac signs, constellations, legal, anatomical and pharmaceutical terms, literature, mythology, history, culture, songs, familiar expressions, and abbreviations. I suggest using this PowerPoint during the first week of Latin study or as an advertisement for taking Latin. P.S. Students knew that I bristled when I heard "Latin is a dead language." I created this PowerPoint as a direct answer to that statement: Latin is alive and well and surrounds us still today!
