What educators are saying

My students really enjoyed this resource. It was highly engaging and a great addition to the unit. Thank you!
I used this as a review of the crusades. Students were highly engaged and loved it! Will be using again in the future!

Description

If you're looking for a fun and interactive way for your students to learn why some people went on the Crusades from Europe, this interactive PowerPoint and question sheet.

It's based on the idea of 'choose your own adventure' games. They 'time travel' back to Medieval England and find out the reasons why people went on the crusades to Jerusalem.

Students have to navigate their way through the presentation making decisions on who they 'speak' to and what they read in order to answer the questions on the question sheet. The PowerPoint is animated and moves on automatically so students just have to watch and then click on specific people or items of their choice.

Four main reasons can be found as to why some people went on the Third Crusade. These are to make their fortune, to avoid legal punishment, religious beliefs and to and to curry favour with the King. The students then can use their discoveries to answer the 'mini-essay' question: Why did people go on Crusade in the Middle Ages?

CONTAINS:

  • FULLY INTERACTIVE POWERPOINT
  • QUESTION SHEETS INCLUDING A MINI ESSAY SCAFFOLD
  • MODEL ANSWER SHEETS

This is a memorable and different way to learn this medieval history topic. If you have access to a computer suite it works very well as an individual or pair lesson but it easily be used in a teacher led lesson with the whole class. I have done this both ways and it has been successful.
