What educators are saying

This was an excellent resource that helped students to demonstrate their understanding of the content being taught.
I prefer to have multiple visual options for students to learn how to put an introductory paragraph together; this is an excellent option for students to use!

Description

Every time my students begin writing their essays, they always get stuck on their introduction paragraphs. They stare at their blinking cursors or unmoving pens and constantly tell me, "I don't know how to start!" It's easy to go over hook sentences, connecting sentences and writing a thesis. It's easy to give practice versions of these three introduction elements (and students seem to get it). But once they are confronted with their own paper, their minds go blank.

This graphic organizer helps them formulate and create an outline for their introduction paragraph and it captures the students' attention.

What this organizer has:

- Clear directions
- Interesting shapes and line where students will write a hook, connecting sentence and thesis.
- Labels for each of the above with a short definition
- Extra hints and tips on writing each section
