Year 5 Australian Curriculum HASS Geography Unit

In this Year 5 unit, students explore influences on the environment and the management of the Australian environment, addressing aspects of the HASS Australian Curriculum. It also looks at how their local place has changed and how unique places are managed. The unit also explores how the Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander people managed the land. Finally it looks at natural disasters including floods and bushfires.

✩ It is a 9 lesson unit (designed to be taught over a term) that contains all lesson resources including worksheets and posters*.

✩ This HASS unit also contains an editable PowerPoint presentation that can be displayed during each lesson. It includes the learning intentions/success criteria, key discussion points, worksheets and display resources. This makes teaching every lesson even easier if your classroom has a T.V or Smartboard.

The influence of people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, on the environment characteristics of Australian places (ACHASSK112)

The environmental and human influences on the location and characteristics of a place and the management of spaces within them (ACHASSK113)
