Your Voice Matters! Start the Conversation in Your Classroom

I initially created this resource to provide my 8th-grade students with an opportunity to express their thoughts and opinions on national and global events such as the Black Lives Matter movement and abuse of power. I shared this assignment on my Instagram Story to demonstrate how classrooms can 'Start the Conversation' on these important topics.

After receiving positive feedback from a fellow teacher who follows me, I realized that many educators are seeking ways to discuss social justice in their classrooms. If you're looking for a resource to facilitate these discussions, I hope you find this resource helpful.

The assignment offers students a choice between two options, where they reflect on videos, articles, and/or quotes. The second part allows students to expand on their initial assignment with a reflection or research paper.
