TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for more than two decades with students from a variety of academic and socioeconomic backgrounds. I spent 21 years in elementary and recently moved to teaching US History to juniors in high school. I am a general education teacher, but I spent five years of my career co-teaching in a collaborative special education classroom. I was PLC team leader for six years, and I've also developed and delivered staff training in multiple areas, including technology and guided math.

MY TEACHING STYLE

First and foremost, I make sure my students know I love them. Building relationships is the foundation for what we do academically. We can be silly, but know when to be serious. Every resource I create is something I use, or have used, in my classroom. My philosophy in creating lessons or activities is that every item should be engaging while also teaching the skill thoroughly, giving multiple opportunities to reteach and reassess, and have the ability to enrich.
