TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Biology I, Biology I Honors, AP Biology, Physical Science, and Physical Science Honors, both in public and private schools. I've learned over the years that the best way we can care, love, and prepare our students for the future is to develop curriculum and resources that are clear, captivating, and challenging.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I make creative and comprehensive curriculum that engages students and simplifies teachers' lives. Teaching doesn't have to be rocket science! I run a high-energy and fast-paced class. I keep kids moving and pack every second I have with them so that no time is wasted. I love to utilize inquiry-based instruction, simulations, and real world application into every lesson. Most of my experience has been in a non-lab space so I like to create resources that teachers can use with few materials and no science budget.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Every time I have a student start off the year saying "I hate science" and end the year saying "I love this class" I count as a WIN! I love seeing students have a change in heart towards this subject once they've had me! In terms of a more official honor, I was chosen as the 2018 Teacher of the Year at my school.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

M.Ed in Teaching and Learning; B.A. in Biological Sciences; B.A. in Secondary Education: Science Teaching; Gifted and Talented Certified; AP Biology certified
