TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an educator for over 32 years! I have a passion for teaching and I have been committed to fostering a positive learning environment for my students. I have had experiences in teaching first, and second graders and taught over 21 years in a multiage classroom. The multiage classroom consisted of first through third graders. I also have a reading teaching license and have been a reading intervention teacher for a number of years. I mentor and support fellow educators and understand the importance of collaboration. I know that by empowering teachers to do their best work benefits the entire school community. I enjoy creating resources that are engaging and enjoyable.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am committed to student success and I strive to shape classroom and instructional materials to help students develop valuable thinking skills and encourage a deeper understanding of concepts within and across subject areas. I like project based learning activities that allow students to apply their knowledge in practical and meaningful ways. I am a strong believer in modeling and using the gradual release of responsibility model and many of my resources incorporate that strategy. I also believe in teaching reading systematically and explicitly and you will see that I have many reading and writing materials that reflect that.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My awards have been the many children that I have had the honor of teaching. The awards come in little shapes and sizes and remind me daily why I am in this profession.
