TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I spent my first five years in the classroom teaching seventh grade social studies at a Title I school in North Carolina. Here, I learned to integrate literacy, technology, and the arts in order to keep my students engaged and make history relevant. After having my daughter, I looked for a job closer to home and am currently teaching seventh grade ELA and a digital art course to seventh and eighth graders.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe strong, concise direct instruction is essential to starting a new lesson; but afterwards, the learning needs to be released to the students! Using a wide variety of instructional strategies, student grouping, and creative outlets will keep students engaged and most importantly, learning!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with bachelors degrees in English and Anthropology. I also hold minors in Russian Studies and African Studies. I completed a lateral entry program as an educator.
