TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Spanish for over 18 years at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I love experiencing other cultures to the fullest and sharing those experiences with my students to instill a love for learning and languages. During my time in the classroom, I have created many engaging activities for all levels and abilities. My students have enjoyed these resources and I know yours will too!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Constantly finding creative ways to engage students in pursuing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

These are the best awards! The words of my 6th graders: 1. "I have improved my vocabulary by going from just "hola" and "adios" to being able to have conversations in Spanish." -Garrett 2. "I actually know more Spanish than my older brother now." - Lillian 3. "Every day I walk into your class and get better and better at Spanish." - Dorian 4. "I have had a blast in Spanish this year!" - Morgan 5. Mi clase favorito es espanol!" - Melinda

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Secondary Education/Spanish from Clemson University. Traveling has been one of my greatest teachers! I have spent a lot of time in Brazil, Spain, Mexico and Peru.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've been teaching Spanish for 18 years, finding ways to engage students so they’ll share my love of Spanish and want to become fluent! Each of the 4 different schools (private & public) where I taught in Kentucky, South Carolina & Georgia required that I develop my own curriculum and create my own resources. Quality activities were hard to find! I spent countless hours creating relevant and meaningful elementary and middle school resources that would engage students and get them speaking. They loved the speaking activities, word searches, and bingo games so much that whenever I'd announce that we were about to do one, I would hear a resounding "Yes!" I realized that if my students were excited about these activities, others would be too. I hope that by making these activities and resources available through my TeachersPayTeachers store, I’ll enable you to have more time to focus on the aspects of teaching that you love and less time on creating materials. I want to make your job easier by equipping you with meaningful and fun activities that build the language skills of your students. When I'm not creating resources or tutoring Spanish, I am usually running, rooting for my alma mater (Clemson) at football games, looking for the best Mexican food or spending time with my husband and our 4 grown kids. I hope my resources will make your time with your students more effective and fun!
