Dissection Notes and Chicken Wing and Pickle Dissection LABS
My students spend a few days in class learning about bones, ligaments, tendons, skeletal muscles, cartilage, marrow, and tendons. I want the students to observe these parts first hand by dissecting a chicken wing.
The attached document contains notes about dissection tools and techniques. It then has a practice lab where students dissect a pickle. Finally, the document contains the chicken wing dissection lab. Teacher notes are provided for both labs.

These are smartboard pages I have created which support the STAGE 2 Science Unit "Light Fanastic". All worksheets needed have been screen shot, so you can know what you are doing for the lesson. All questioning, prompting and experiment set ups etc have also been included in an easy to understand way. I find this very helpful and the children love to see what we are doing each lesson and when they can visually see this, it's fantastic!

This is a 13 slide Notebook lab activity for the smartboard. It takes students through the step-by-step instructions of how to do a hot water bath. I have the students get with a partner and do the lab procedure as we work through the presentation.
It's a great intro activity to a common lab procedure.

Students calculate the speed of cars as they pass the school. Lab can be done from the inside of a chain-link fence that borders a street. A diagram is included on slide 3 of the set-up. Supplies needed are access to a fence that borders a road, stopwatch, and metersticks.
