This is an activity I do with my students when we begin our unit on Earthquakes. It lasts a week and depending on the time available, I will either do this as a bell ringer or assign for homework. Students use the United States Geological Survey website to track and monitor earthquakes as they happen on a daily basis. The activity should take no longer than 10 minutes a day. I got this idea from Flin Scientific. I made a bracket for the 32 of the moons in our solar system. The students are going to research and answer questions about different moons to determine who will make the playoffs, the semifinals and the championship game.
