This product is a handout which can be used with ANY non-fiction reading (article, passage, book, chapter). It includes a graphic organizer for students to find the main idea of a paragraph, or chapter and then find supporting details to defend that idea. This is can be edited to fit your needs, and it works across grade levels! Enjoy!

Compare and Contrast Around the World Food Brochure RI.3.8
RI.3.8 standard for connecting paragraphs and sentences through comparing and contrasting. For this activity, I bought scones and cinnamon rolls and cut them into smaller pieces. My students then "traveled the world" and tasted the food. In the brochure they are required to compare and contrast using a venn diagram. On the back, they are required to write a paragraph using the signal words.
