What educators are saying

We used this resource for a total of three days. It was a wonderful foundation that helped my students to understand Algebraic Expressions. My students were engaged and paid attention during the entire lesson. Great resource!
My students enjoyed working on this activity-the questions were challenging enough and we love anytime we get a colouring activity!

Description

Add an engaging twist to translating words to algebraic expressions practice with these color by number activities!

  • Students write and then match 20 algebraic expressions for given phrases/situations and then color with the color indicated in the box for that question.

Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included and how the Google Slides color by number version work (students will need to know how to use the "Fill color" feature).

  • If you aren't using Google Classroom but can access my Google links, you could download as a PowerPoint and students can interact with the PPT version the same way they would with the Slides version:-)

Problems require students to:

  • Translate (and match) phrases with algebraic expressions
  • Write (and match) algebraic expressions to represent given situations

This easy-prep color by number resource includes a PDF with:

1) Two Print versions

  • Version A:
    • Problem sheet with 20 questions
    • Coloring sheet
  • Version B:
    • Problem sheet with 20 questions (similar types of questions to Version A)
    • Coloring sheet (a little less detailed than Version A)

2) Link to one Google Slides version

  • Same problems and mostly same coloring as Version B
  • Students type their answers in the answer boxes
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.)

3) Two coloring pages with no numbers, for students to color their own way, for fun:-)

What teachers are saying about these color by number activities:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"Love the ease of use and the basic skills for equations. The kids like it, it makes a great homework assignment or after lesson review.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“Kids enjoyed this activity. I have a few of them because they are engaging and kids like them better than doing worksheets. I have a feeling I will be back for more of these! Thank you.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“This is a great resource. I love that it is self checking. The students know that if their answer if not there, they have done something wrong and need to get help. The coloring makes the assignment "fun."”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“After learning these lessons with our curriculum, I was looking for a way for the students to get more practice - this was it! They really started mastering it with these and enjoyed the practice at the same time.”
