What educators are saying

Great resource I used for small group remediation. The color coded text evidence kept my students engaged.
I am using this resource with a student who has an individual goal of identifying the author's point of view. However, I have also found it to be a great resource for looking at how to write an essay.

Description

⭐️This collection of 12 Lexile® leveled close reading comprehension passages with standards based questions for 3rd grade Common Core standard author's viewpoint of a nonfiction text. These passages enable students to highlight their answers, an interactive anchor chart, and two assessments.

This resource begins with two anchor charts that explain what author's purpose means, and why authors write to inform (to explain, answer a question, or describe). Students will follow the provided steps to identify an author's viewpoint and determine whether or not they agree or disagree with the author's point of view.

⭐️Includes standard based passages, questions, anchor charts, and two skills focused test passages. Certified Lexile measured close reading comprehension texts are varied within the second and third grade bands.

⭐️If you do not use Common Core, this packet is still perfect for teaching these skills. Aligns with other state specific standards.

⭐️This printable and digital resource is compatible with Google Drive and Google Slides.

⭐️Digital version saves paper, but still requires teachers to correct student responses.

Key Features:

✏️Lexile Levels - Each qualifying passage contains a certified Lexile measure to make differentiation easy. Passages vary across the 3rd grade Common Core Text Complexity Band (the range for second and third grade is 420L-820L).

✏️Integrated Color Coding - The color coding strategy encourages students to learn how to find and use text evidence in their answers.

✏️Comprehensive - Passages are perfect for comprehensive standard based test prep. Included anchor charts and questions make this resource great for lesson modeling. Works perfectly for small groups and guided reading.

✏️Scaffolding - Utilizes the Lexile Framework® for Reading and a mix of standard based essay and multiple choice questions to allow educators to scaffold independent work and homework. Also great for centers and interventions. Passages increase in difficulty. Questions follow the same format to ensure students master the skill.

✏️Highly Engaging - Contains original passages with high-quality photographs designed to engage students of all levels and interests.
