This BOOM Game is so helpful in helping students to understand the reading comprehension skill of Author's Purpose. Each game slide has a short passage. Students will read/listen to the passage and determine if the Author's purpose is to persuade, inform, or entertain. This is an important comprehension skill to help students discern what type of text they are reading and assist with comprehension.

Audio is included on every slide.

The cards are randomized so students can play again and again. There is audio support for beginning readers.

How do I play my Boom Cards?

After you purchase this product, you will download a PDF that will contain a link to your purchased cards on Boom Learning. To redeem your Boom Cards, you will create an account for Boom Learning. The account that accompanies your purchase allows you to play the Boom Cards on interactive white boards and with individual students using Fast Play. Fast Play does not save student progress reports.

To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for modern Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (a form of play that gives instant feedback to students for self-grading Boom Cards).
