What educators are saying

Great resource for students to guide themselves through these stations in order to get a sense of some of the important/key battles of WWII
My students loved this resource. I was able to effectively modify it to fit the needs of my students with IEP's.

Learning Objective

Students will understand the events and impact of major battles of World War 2.

Description

This World War 2 lesson is an awesome way for students to learn about all the major battles through stations readings!

The download includes lesson plan instructions on how to create an engaging stations lesson as well as ways to differentiate for your students. There are 9 one-page readings on major battles of World War 2 that can be hung up around your classroom as stations.

Students move through the stations with the included chart and map to learn about each battle and the impact it had on the war.

The battles covered in the activity are:

  • The Battle of Britain
  • Pearl Harbor
  • Midway
  • El-Alamein
  • Stalingrad
  • D-Day
  • Battle of the Bulge
  • Iwo Jima
  • Okinawa

Each reading focuses on the key aspects that students need to know about each battle. This includes the date, location, events, and impact the battle had on WW2.

Also included is an editable Google Doc version of the entire packet. This can be used to take away different battles if you don't want to cover them all or to have students complete the activity online. The Google Doc also includes links to videos about each battle you can also use in addition to the readings.

Another activity that uses some of the same readings is this WW2 Radio Show Project. You can download both activities along with dozens more as part of my Complete World War 2 Unit Bundle.
