Compare and Order Numbers Activity

Description
This activity is designed to be used weekly (all year) to reinforce comparing and ordering numbers, and the numbers get more complex as the year progresses. The students will start with just positive integers, and end with ordering all forms of numbers on a single number line. To use this activity, you will need to hang a taught piece of string or yarn somewhere in your room that is easily accessible to all students upon their entry to the room. Each student will be given a number and needs to place it in the correct location before taking their seat. This is a great activity to use every Monday as students start a new week (and should not take long to complete). You will change to the next set of cards to reinforce newly learned types of numbers. Please note, as the numbers get more complex, there will be more “discussion” among classmates thus the activity will take a little longer complete and check for accuracy against the key. I have typed the cards in the correct order from least to greatest value, so you have a built in key. ENJOY!
