What educators are saying

Students really enjoyed this activity. I had to supplement a bit because I wanted them to use the 2016 and 2020 election, which made question 4 not applicable. If you ever create an updated version, I would enjoy using it

Description

In this Presidential elections lesson plan, students learn how to win an election by studying election trends and swing states by examing results from the past 6 elections to understand trends, electoral votes, the value and importance of a swing state, and the thoughts behind campaign strategy. Students complete a guided worksheet where they use information from the past 6 elections to draw conclusions and interpret data. Students learn the importance of a swing state and which states are best left alone in the campaign process. In the end, students create a campaign plan on which states they will target based on their historical analysis and research!

Very informative and engaging! Two additional articles are included to highlight the value and importance of a swing state!
