Description

This lab is Modified for Special Ed and/or English Language Learners. It’s also EASY PREP, it's hands-on, students are engaged, it includes many physics concepts and I give you a link to my PREZI that has the info and scaffolding they need in order to succeed at this lab. My modifications are a WORD BANK, EASY TO READ BACKGROUND INFORMATION WITH BOLD VOCABULARY WORDS, FILL IN THE BLANK QUESTIONS, PICTURES, DIAGRAMS, BIGGER FONTS, LESS QUESTIONS, EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and TEACHER NOTES FOR MODELING. I also include a KEY for easy grading and prep. It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours, it's up to you.

Materials needed: Inexpensive plumbing insulation from a hardware store, marbles, masking tape, meter stick and timer (I let the students use their phones for a timer).

THIS LAB INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING CONCEPTS:
Kinetic energy, potential energy, mechanical energy, rolling friction, fluid friction, sliding friction and gravity. However, you can edit it to add more concepts for extensions. I've done this lab with 8th and 7th grade mainstream, EL and Special Ed.

Or buy my bundle that includes all of my physics products NGSS Physics Resource Bundle

Here are more products that would go great with this lab:
