Description
Native Americans played an important role in the American History. When the Pilgrims emigrated to the New World, they knew little about the conditions of the country. They suffered diseases throughout their journey on the Mayflower and a lot of them died.
As they landed in the New World, it was late in the year and the winter was at its best. Some of the settlers didn’t survive because they didn’t have shelter, food and medicines. They were really having a hard time getting used to the land they thought was going to help them start a new life. Squanto helped them to plant corn and fish and also showed them to keep that fish fresh by using salt. Pocahontas, on the other hand, helped our colonists to establish Jamestown, their first colony.
The discovery of the west and the Pacific Ocean, the discovery of herbs that were edible and the accomplishment of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, was in part a success thanks to Sacagawea and even though we don’t know that much about certain areas and period of times of her life, it’s good to know that she was of great importance to the success and accomplishment of the Lewis and Clark expedition that was planned by President Thomas Jefferson
