Description
Lifestyle Fitness– Unit 2 begins with topics on Recovery and Overtraining, Monitoring Intensity, the 5 Heart Rate Zones, Motivation, and Core Strength Training. The rest of the unit – the final 8 lessons – all focus on some aspect of Nutrition, including: Essential Nutrients; Schools and Nutrition; Food Guides; Reading Food Labels; Nutrition and Weight Control; and Nutrition and Performance.
Along with the 13 lessons that are provided, UNIT 2 also includes:
1. 13 written assignments to accompany each lesson;
2. Crossword puzzles to help students learn the various terminology;
3. 2 written exams.
NOTE: ANSWER KEYS are provided for ALL assignments, crossword puzzles, and exams.
In addition to 1, 2, and 3 above, the following material is also included with UNIT 2:
-- an APPENDIX (containing 3 Sample Training Programs, Workout Cards, and 38 diagrammed and labelled resistance training exercises);
-- a TEACHER'S MANUAL (containing instructional information, general/specific intended outcomes, a Sample Semester Schedule, a Sample Mark Sheet, and information on the "Lifestyle Fitness Challenge". (The Lifestyle Fitness Challenge - and the 3 different Certificates of Achievement that accompany it - provide a method of challenging and motivating students to establish a lifelong commitment to physical activity and fitness.)
