Description
This activity is a great culmination to the introduction of five and ten frames. It is often difficult to assess children on their understanding of how to correctly place counters on a ten frame (filling one square at a time from left to right, top to bottom) without observing their process in real time. Based on your knowledge of each child's name, you will be able to assess whether or not students are grasping the concept of correct placement.

I also use this activity for one to one counting and basic addition practice (through having students identify how many letters are in their name and how many more letters they would need to fill the frame). And, it's always nice to throw in some language arts and have a quick chat about when capitals and lowercase letters are used!
