Presidential Election | Election Activities and Mock Election

Are you looking for a fun and creative way to introduce your students to the election process? This product will allow you to teach your students about the process our country uses to choose the President. We used fictional characters from high quality children's literature instead of real-life candidates so that you could use this product again in the future.

In this product you will find:

• Election KWL Sheet: Students will record what they already know about the presidential election as well as their questions. At the end of the unit, they can record what they learned about the election process. 

• Unit Lesson Plans: A day by day guide to teaching this engaging election unit!

• Vocabulary Posters: Kid friendly posters to introduce important election based vocabulary.

• Vocabulary/definition cards: Students can use these cards to test their knowledge of the vocabulary by playing a matching game.  

• Vocabulary Wordsearch: Practice the new vocabulary words by completing this fun wordsearch activity.

• Meet the Candidates Graphic Organizers: Students are asked to fill out a story map graphic organizer for each candidate’s book. They will also identify character traits, strengths and weaknesses for each candidate by citing evidence from the text. 

• Create a Political Party: Students will understand how political parties decide on their candidate by completing this collaborative activity.

• Compare the Candidates Graphic Organizers: Students will record the possible pros and cons for each candidate becoming President.   

• Campaign Poster: A direction page to guide students in developing a campaign poster for their favorite candidate. 

• Debate Talking Points Organizer and Questions: Hold your own class debate! Students will pretend to be one of the candidates and answer the provided debate questions.

• Classroom Decorations and Voter Stickers: Transform your classroom into a polling place with these fun signs and badges.

• Ballots: There are different variations of the ballots provided depending on who ends up being the top two candidates in your class.

• Acceptance/Concession Speech Templates: Have students practice their writing and speaking skills with these guided templates.
