Description

SOLVE Quadratic Equations by FACTORING

Black History Month is in February. If you need an activity to highlight the accomplishments of African Americans, consider this math activity.

Students will solve quadratic equations by factoring. The letters assigned to each equation will reveal the following quote by Nelson Mandela.

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."

Included are 16 equations given in increasingly difficult order. The solutions are expressed as a solution set with solutions listed in ascending order (to avoid confusion; i.e. if - 1 and -3 are solutions, the set will appear as {-3, -1}.

This makes a great worksheet to leave with a substitute or to use for early-finishers during Black History month or ANYTIME.
