Description

Reign of Terror CSI Investigation | French Revolution | Distance Learning Ready

In this engaging and authentic CSI activity, students investigate the Reign of Terror, the role of Maximilien Robespierre and the Jacobins, and its impact on the French Revolution, all while trying to gather evidence toward the overarching question, "Why did Robespierre launch the Reign of Terror?"

In this student investigation on the Reign of Terror, students uncover the origins and motivations of the radical movement, the views of other political leaders (like American president George Washington), controversial decisions made by the Committee of Public Safety led by Maximilien Robespierre, the execution of innocent civilians for speaking out against Robespierre, the role of the Girondins, and much more!

This CSI investigation has students focus their research on 10 included primary sources (both text and images included), complete analysis questions to guide student learning, and includes a final prompt for students to display their learning.

This activity includes a full teacher key and a Google 1:1 version designed for distance learning!
