What educators are saying

My students enjoyed the seasonal topics. I appreciated that they were decodable. I also liked that I could choose to print them with pictures that the students had to match to the text or as completed booklets.

Each of these books is provided in a black & white interactive format and a full-color reader.

    INTERACTIVE BOOKS

Students read each page and glue on the picture that goes with the text. A target word is highlighted in bold to help students find the correct picture. These are also good words for seasonal vocabulary instruction.

The last page of each book has four simple comprehension questions. One is multiple choice and the rest require a short written response. The answers are found directly in the story.

These books print in black and white.

    COLOR BOOKS

This set includes the same stories as the black and white version without the cut and glue component. The pictures are already included on each page to provide visual support while reading. The comprehension questions at the end are slightly different and formatted for discussion. They also provide opportunities to make text to self connections. This version is perfect for your guided reading groups but could also be used for partner reading or for take-home reading practice.

    VOCABULARY CARDS & SIGHT WORDS

A set of word cards with spring vocabulary from the stories is also included along with corresponding picture cards. These can be used to pre-teach vocabulary, as a matching activity in centers, or on your word wall.

A second set of cards contain words found in the stories. These are non-decodable words that students need to recognize by sight rather than sounding out. The cards can be used for additional word instruction during your reading groups or sent home for sight word practice.

    DIGITAL BOOKS

This resource also includes the full-color readers formatted for digital use through Easel. These can be assigned through your online learning platform and allows students to read the books on any device! Embedded audio lets students listen to the questions being read aloud.

These decodable readers and activities are a great way to incorporate spring holidays and science topics into your reading instruction while building comprehension skills and vocabulary. They are perfect for early readers in late K to first grade (or for reading intervention with low 2nd graders).
