This lesson focuses on students understanding what effects their self-esteem, determining what areas they do and do not feel competent in, planning to improve valued skills, and recognizing supports.
Students base their self-esteem on how competent they feel in an area they think is important. When a student has a low self-esteem, it is important we focus on what is causing the low self-esteem and not just on boosting the student with positive thinking and praise.
How to Use This Resource
This lesson is ideal for small group, individual counseling or advisory groups. It can be modified to use with larger groups, but would not follow the lesson plan.
