    Decodable Fairy Tale Readers

    This bundle includes six different fairytales, each focusing on a specific phonics skill.

    • Hansel and Gretel - Hard and Soft C and G
    • Little Red Riding Hood - Double Consonant and Double Vowels
    • The Three Billy Goats Gruff - R Blends
    • Stone Soup - Vowel Teams
    • The Little Red Hen - R-Controlled Vowels

    To complete each book, students will:

    • Read a list of sight words found in the story, checking off the ones they know
    • Read the target phonics patterns
    • Read the story
    • Highlight words in the story with the target phonics pattern
    • Add pictures to the story that support the text (cut and glue)
    • Re-read the story to build fluency
    • Answer comprehension questions about the story
    • Record words they highlighted, sorting by phonics pattern

    WORD CARDS

    Each resource includes a set of word work cards. The cards show a picture and a word from the story that contains the focus phonics/spelling pattern. The words have elkonin sound boxes in place of the target letters. Students say the word and determine what letters are missing. These cards can be laminated and used with dry erase markers in your reading centers.

    PHONICS WORKSHEETS

    Each resource includes 2-3 worksheets for practicing reading and spelling words with the target phonics skill. These worksheets include word sorting and filling in the missing letters.

    DIGITAL ACTIVITIES

    The worksheets and word cards have been prepared for digital use in Easel. Answer boxes have already been inserted for students to type into. You can assign these pages in your online learning platform to be completed on any device.
