Description

Word Flashcards to supplement the Reading Mastery Program by McGraw/Hill

Letter-Sound cards to supplement the Reading Mastery Program by McGraw/Hill

Changes from the original set listed:
Word cards are now 2” in height and 3” in width, getting 12 cards per sheet instead of 4
All sets of cards now have a different color border for easy sorting
Words on cards now have the start/stop lines, with dots and arrows for slow and fast sounds
Irregular words have been marked with a star
An additional folder is included that has 12 cards of the same word, for easier printing of specific words.
Cards are now in 300 ppi instead of 100 ppi. Hopefully this will clear up any blurriness some of you are having.

PRINTING INFO: I ALWAYS to a test print before listing items. However, I have health problems that have kept me from school for over a month now, and I'm unable to test print these anywhere. The preview download is the exact, full quality sample of what's included. I strongly recommend you download the preview and print it to make sure it prints well for you.

Description:
I developed these flashcards to supplement the Reading Mastery curriculum. Besides using them as regular flashcards, they can also be used to play Memory, Go Fish, or a variety of card games. I've also taped them to my classroom door for each child to read as they leave my room, taped them to the floor for a version of hopscotch, and taped them to the board and had the students “Smack It!” with a flyswatter when I said a word. Making a set for each student to take home is also handy. In addition, I've found it rewarding to label a section of the classroom with each child's name and let them tape each word under his/her name as it's mastered.

I think it's a fairly common thing for teachers to observe the needs of their students and develop a variety of materials to meet those needs. This was my purpose when I developed these bookmarks. Because of the special orthography used in Reading Mastery, making supplemental materials was not an easy task. I chose a font that was somewhat similar, worked with it in a graphics program, and this was the end result.

About the program:

Reading Mastery is developed by McGraw-Hill and part of the SRA program. I have been teaching for 25 years now, and I can honestly say that I have never had a program work as well as this one. I used this program in a special education classroom, and I could not believe the difference it made. I have seen it work wonders, and would STRONGLY recommend it to anyone, teachers and parents alike. It was NOT developed specifically for special needs students, but works equally well for any child or adult of any ability.
