What educators are saying

I used this to breakdown what mechanical advantage is and how to calculate it. This kids enjoyed the silly way to present a semi-difficult topic.
My 8th grade students loved this activiy. They enjoyed watching these older videos and the questions kept them engaged.

Description

This Simple Machines Eureka Video Clips Lesson and Graphic Organizer contains a worksheet that students complete while viewing 5 Eureka! Series video clips on simple machines and a graphic organizer that shows how the simple machines can be thought of as a family with relationships! The video clips are awesome animations with a 1970's-feel, and they do an excellent job of simplifying the concepts of force, work, mechanical advantage, and friction. Each video clip is about 5 minutes long, and the mp4 files are included in this product. Also included is a graphic organizer of the simple machines, which arranges them into a "family tree" the way they are explained in the Eureka! videos: the wedge and screw are descendants of the inclined plane, and the wheel, pulley and gears are descendants of the lever. Answer keys are provided.
