Scholarly research is finding that practicing mindfulness and yoga with school-aged children decreases stress and anxiety, improves attention and memory, benefits emotional regulation, and is linked with improved social-emotional skills. Practicing mindfulness LITERALLY changes the brain by activating neurological components related to memory, emotion, and behavior regulation. In short, improved speech and language outcomes!

✏ DIRECTIONS FOR USE
- Have student/client chose a yoga mat.
- Have student/client chose a yoga pose.
- Chose a direction card based on your target objective for the warm-up.
- Read the “Yoga Pose Description” for the yoga pose card chosen as your student/client takes their pose (optional).
- When the student/client is ready, read the direction card. Depending on which card you chose, you may wish to repeat the prompt and/or read it very slowly in order to give your student/client time to process the objective and complete multiple rounds of breathing.
- When the prompt has been covered and the objective completed, tell your student/client to slowly open their eyes and come back to their seats.
- Depending on the card/prompt chosen, you can then discuss the objective that was targeted.
- Repeat as a warm-up for every session! This will be a wonderful and consistent way to begin sessions with attentive students/clients with mindful attitudes!
